Trimming Boxwood Boxwood bushes provide wonderful structure to your garden, and
you only need to trim them once in late Spring and again at the end of Summer
to look great. An easy way to avoid
spending too much time on cleaning up your trimmings is to place old sheets
along the base of all the bushes you are trimming. When you’re done, simply lift the ends of
the sheets and gently let the trimmings move to the center. Collect the sheet with the trimmings tucked
inside, place in a large trash bag and slowly pull the sheet out so all your
trimmings remain inside the bag and you’re done! |

Q: I have a lot of deer in my neighborhood. Is it true that they don’t eat Boxwood
bushes? What other plants could I
plant that are deer resistant? Anne Safford A: Yes, the great thing about Boxwood is that deer seem to avoid
eating them. You may also try Lavender
and Hyacinth if you want to plant bulbs.
Explore your local nursery.
They should have a section labeled “Deer Resistant Plants” to see what
colors and shapes you like. —Danielle |
