Decorating Projects To be able to create a
wide variety of decorating projects around the house, all you really need is
a very simple sewing machine and sewing accessories—pins, needles, thread,
scissors, yard stick, and tape measure.
Try to buy fabrics and trim only for projects you plan to complete in
the near future to avoid overstocking.
Doing your own decorating projects not only builds a wonderful
tradition of creativity that’s passed on to your children, but it also allows
you to make uniquely personal spaces where everything can be perfectly
coordinated with fabrics and colors in the exact tones you love. In a child’s bedroom—for example—a simple
canopy trimmed with pompoms and placed over a wooden dowel hanging on two
small decorative hooks attached to the ceiling and two on either side can be
made from the same fabric as curtains—giving the room a custom look.
